Today, we want to introduce one of the longest-standing members of our organization: Vanessa Padilla. Vanessa is a talented graphic designer working in the APS Marketing Team in Ecuador. Her experience and work have contributed to the group’s image for four years. We invite you to learn more about Vanessa’s role through her own words.
Tell us a bit about yourself. What made you choose a career in Graphic Design?
Since I was little, I always loved drawing and experimenting with colors and shapes. When I discovered graphic design, I decided to combine my love for art with digital tools to create impactful and functional things. This combination of creativity and technology attracted me and motivated me to choose this career.
How did you join APS, and how has your career or role evolved over the years?
I joined APS through a job opportunity that came my way when I was looking for a new professional challenge, just a month before the pandemic. Since I joined the company, I have had the chance to grow and evolve in my role. I have also taken on broader responsibilities, such as supervising the Marketing team.
How do you keep up with new trends in design and technology?
I stay updated by attending webinars or online workshops about design and technology. Additionally, I follow industry leaders on social media and read specialized blogs. This allows me to learn and adapt to the latest trends and tools available in the market.
Why is it important to ensure the visual identity or branding of the APS group?
Visual identity is essential because it is the first impression our clients and prospects have of APS. A coherent and well-defined branding strengthens the company’s image, creates trust, and ensures that all our messages are clear and consistent. This is crucial to stand out in the market and maintain a solid relationship with our clients.
What are your main functions within the organization, and how do they help the different departments and markets in the USA and Ecuador?
My main functions include creating and managing graphic design projects for APS and its various products, ensuring that all visual materials maintain optimal quality and consistency. I also collaborate with the sales department to develop effective campaigns that resonate in both the USA and Ecuador markets. This helps strengthen our presence and communication in each region.
APS is starting a new phase in Ecuador this year. How are you and your team helping to boost the company in Ecuador?
We are working on various initiatives to establish and strengthen APS’s presence in Ecuador. My team and I plan to develop specific marketing campaigns for the Ecuadorian market, creating visual materials adapted to the local culture. We are also implementing branding strategies that highlight APS’s values and vision in this new phase.
With the new office, you are now working in the new APS headquarters, but since COVID, your work has been remote. What advice would you give to your new colleagues who are also working remotely?
I would recommend establishing a daily routine that includes specific times for work and rest. It is important to create a dedicated, distraction-free workspace. Organization and communication are key to maintaining productivity and well-being while working remotely.
What is Vanessa like outside the office?
Outside the office, I enjoy spending time with my family, whether it’s going out to eat, watching a movie, or staying home baking cakes or cookies with my daughters. I also love sports, so I enjoy watching or playing volleyball.
What would you like to say to your coworkers? What message would you like to convey to your colleagues?
I would like to thank them for their constant collaboration and effort. Working with such a dedicated and talented team makes the job a rewarding experience. I encourage them to keep innovating and supporting each other. As a team, we can achieve great things and continue driving APS toward new goals and successes.
